I have no clue what to be for Halloween.

Should I be “white trash” again like last year?

or maybe another Power Ranger like the year before?

Ive been trying to get a good schedule for next semester.  I register tomorrow at 7AM on the dot.  It’s fierce here.

So far I have it lined up so all but one of my classes are on Tuesday and Thursday again… and all the classes have something to offer that I will personally learn from.  I haven’t been using Rate My Professor (click it to learn about how harsh Gary is in class) to find classes like most kids.  I try and get classes that will make me learn.

Apparently that’s a weird concept to the people I live with?

Had a few hours of free time to kill so I single speeded over to Lincoln Woods for some fun.  While there I crashed no less than 11 times.  Half of them resulted in some sort of blood loss.  It’s fall.  Leaves are covering everything.  It’s pretty though.

(bee! by my strap!)

Apparently paper plates are now used to mark and name trails?  These were all over the place… MTBDEE, have a clue what these are?

I stayed away from all the pickles.

My race at Wrentham was screwed as soon a constant funnel of kids made their way into my townhouse at school Friday night.  My goal was bed at 11… yup that failed.  When there is loud music, lots of people, and beer… it’s kind of hard to kick that many people out.  So I joined them.

I eventually got to sleep just before 4.  Awesome.  Since Wrentham is my teams race I had planned to get to the venue at 6 to help set up… there was a change of plans.  I got up at 6:30… on the road at 7… and at Wrentham at 7:30.  I was scheduled to be the prize director… so I had to be there kind of early anyway.  I managed to keep my sleep deprived self plenty busy by helping out with miscellaneous tasks throughout the morning.  Once the cat 4 race began I heckled away.  I was in my “happy place.” Congrats too tall boy for the big W.

The closer and closer it got to my race the more and more I didn’t want to race.  Whaa whaaa whaaaa.  Yup, I’m wining.  Well kind of.  OK, yes I kind of am.  I felt like poo, was tired, and had no business racing in the 1/2/3.  I’m in the shape right now of a mid pack cat 4 racer. That’s not good.  I’ve got to hit the road for a couple hours today and roast myself (I finally have a little free time!).

So we line up for the race… since I pre registered and have poo for points I was lined up at the back of the pre reg’ed.  Thanks to all of the “day of” racers I then found myself starting mid pack.  Crap.  There goes my “I started in DFL and ended in DLF” excuse.  Now if I finish DFL… I just suck.

Yup.  I just sucked.  The race started… I felt good for a lap… then I began going backwards and fast… I think I rode past Colin’s crash about 5 min after it happened on lap 2.    Holy crap I was sucking.  My lungs felt like they were the size of raisins and my back was getting some sort of horrible suicidal cramp.  Soon, I was basically dead last and trying not to get lapped.  Survival mode.  Wait… not survival mode… training race mode.  Tempo. Yes tempo.  Something I should have been doing for a while.  I don’t have the legs and or fitness to burry myself for an hour right now.  Give it a month.  When everyone else is burning out I’ll just be getting started.  Watch out.

Thanks for all the cheers from everyone.  It’s the only thing which kept me “racing.”

During my final laps I began dreaming of a big chicken pot pie.  Oh yea.  Chicken pot pies are so good.

I took a bunch of pics from the cat 4 race until my battery died.  Here ya go

Oh yea, I met Natalie.  All my dreams came true at that moment.

Gewilli… yup.  He’s in there.  But where?

This is kinda a sample… ignore the first like 40 seconds.

64 Days – Part 2 from mike ambs on Vimeo.

Quick side note… I found another reason why Microsoft sucks.

OK… back to this “race” thing.  Yes I raced.  3rd official race of the year and it should have been like my 10th.  I’ve been missing out.  Lots.

My favorite parts of the day were really just seeing everyone.  Lots of people.  The people are really what make this sport so good.

As soon as I started warming up I thought that I had a slow leak in my back wheel.  It was weird.  It just didn’t seem right.  I checked tire pressure like 10 times before my race and it was always a little over 40 PSI.  That’s what I wanted… so I convinced myself that I the tube didn’t have a leak.

With all worries set aside, I stripped down to my skin-suit and toed the last line.  My logic: 3rd race… get in a good work out.  If I started DFL I would have a solid reason why I came in DFL.

Oh yea and apparently my lack of racing and riding is showing.  I can see a little gut and some love handles forming while wearing my skin-suit… and I was on a ride with a good friend from school last Friday where he informed me that my butt never used to jiggle as much as it was.  Awesome.  I’m getting fat.

I lined up next to Dan the man Ouellette from Gamache and we made some innocent chit chat while we awaited the start.  30 seconds… and then we’re off.  It seemed like everyone was getting cheered for, but me, so I yelled out a “GO BRAD” so that I wasn’t left out.

Blah blah blah…. I moved up.  That’s kind of the cool thing about starting in the back row… no one will ever pass you on the start.  It was great.

Laps 1-2 went well… but then I started feeling my back tire going squishy… Crap.  My back wheel was sliding out a bit more that it should have been on most corners but I still had a tinnnny bit of air in there.  Oh on the paved section I thought I was gonna die going around one corner because I felt the whole tire buckle.

It got worse and worse as the race went on.  Going into the last lap on the track I was practically riding on the rim.  That was my limit.  Flew over the barriers, ran to the pit, and pumped 60psi into those bad boys.  The starting pressure was just 15psi… that’s kinda low.

That was my race for me.  I have no clue how I finished and don’t really care because it’s not really important to my career at the moment.

Holy crap Manny is fast.  That was quite the show in the 1/2/3 race.

Hopefully I’ll be at NBX Wednesday and will definitely be at Wrentham Saturday.

Rock on.

If you dont feel like watching the whole thing… at least listen/watch between 1:30 and 2:00.

Im scared.

I will be there tomorrow for my 3rd cross race of the season.

It ain’t gonna be like last year though.  I’m saving the costumes for Wrentham

I’m gonna have a video camera too (for school).  Put your pain faces on.

I just made brownies.  They are delicious.
